About

I’m Crusoe, an abstract artist deeply influenced by the vibrant tapestry of African culture. My art weaves the essence of Africa into abstract forms, inviting viewers to embark on a journey through this unique fusion.

Through this distinctive blend, I breathe life, love, and radiance into each creation. My art not only adds value and beauty to physical forms but also enhances any canvas it touches. More than just a form of creative expression, my work embodies a way of life, holding deep admiration for diverse cultures and infusing purpose into its very essence.

History

I am an African American born in the early 90s in a family of two children. I go by the name Ayodeji Ibraheem "CRUSOE" Tiamiyu, and I am a self-taught artist who had an early exposure to art due to my parents being professional artists in African art. Despite my interest in art from an early age, I did not begin my art career until I was in my 20s. I spent my childhood in Nigeria, where I participated in concerts and art competitions. I later moved to the US, where I earned an Associate's degree in Accounting in 2016 and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2021. Exposure to art from an early age inspired me.

Finding meaning in art was the major problem when I started because I did not understand my story and did not know how to express the purpose of my art. However, I found meaning in my work after doing black and white drawings. I feel a special connection to black and white artwork. Art is symbolic, and the color used in artwork should convey a specific message. I feel that the white color is essential because it symbolizes the begging of a new chapter. In my view, art is a useful representation that should be used to evoke different emotions. Humans should be able to express and identify themselves through art because of its symbolic representation.

When I finally decided to take my talent seriously, I realized that I strongly connected to black and white artwork. I feel that black and white makes a stronger statement and makes my art more impactful. I want the art to impact people's perspectives and make them relate to the message in the art. It should make people fall in love with the space it occupies and establish a connection with the art. I would want people to feel comfortable and calm around the art and associate it with good vibes, modernity, and happy feelings. The purpose of art is to change the mood and make it better. Hence when people look at it, they should relate to it at a personal level and understand the message it conveys.

His brand is called CRUSOE, a name that was bestowed on him by an acquaintance back in Nigeria. Crusoe refers to someone who survives by their ingenuity and is a name that he believes suits the purpose of his brand as his art pieces are inspired predominantly by his ability to see and bring to life what is missed in the environment. In homage to his roots, most of his art is imbibed with African elements that HE grew up being inspired by.

Art is an integral part of Crusoe's being and whenever people wear his art, he wants them to feel empowered, and beautiful and to radiate positivity from their souls. Through his art, he wants to give people a taste of Africa so they can partake in the love, happiness, positivity, clarity, royalty, and clarity that his art gives him.
